Manager – Radiology - Alert HR Solutions

The Manager - Radiology manages the provision of an efficient and effective general radiology imaging service for the department of Diagnostic Imaging. The Manager is responsible for the management of Technologists - Radiology within the service to ensure the continuity of service delivery. The operational unit of Radiology provides general radiology, fluoroscopy, mammography, BMD, theatre and mobile radiology service to inpatient and outpatients on a referral basis. The service provides resources to medical research as directed. Through the production of high quality images, the Manager is responsible for ensuring a high standard of service is continually provided to all patients, their families and other hospital staff as prescribed in the patient care and facility standards set down.

Key Accountabilities:
•Responsible for the delivery of the Radiology service; scheduling of resources and services, supervision, delegation and management of Radiology service resources to ensure an efficient flow and optimal utilization of equipment and personnel.
•Provides modality expertise in the planning for all new facilities, recommending facilities, equipment and personnel needs in reference to the Radiology service as required.
•Responsible for managing the quality of service provided by the Radiology patient care team within the Diagnostic Imaging services. Ensures that systems and standards that promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care for the modality are adhered to as directed.
•Provides modality expertise in reference to the Radiology service, taking the lead role in its maintenance and development.
•Acts independently in the assessment of referrals for Radiology examinations, taking full responsibility to ensure evidence-based standards of practice of Radiology are applied to the examination.
•Utilizes skills to assess a patient’s condition, often acute, and decide on an appropriate method to obtain a diagnostic image from a range of options.
•Performs all Radiology procedures and provides patient care to patients of all ages as required.
•Ensures the safe and efficient use of the Radiology equipment, taking action to resolve faults/issues and advising the Director of Medical Imaging.
•Reports on the Radiology imaging services performance in relation to established goals, implements change to effect continual improvement in services provided, and ensures compliance with all internal and external standards as well as regulatory and legal requirements as directed.
•Ensures quality improvement programs and competency assessment initiatives for the Diagnostic imaging services are followed by the Radiology patient care team.
•Undertakes appraisals of staff as directed.
•Participates in mandatory training and actively practices continual professional development in alignment with professional development programs to ensure maintenance of professional licensure/accreditation.
•Develops and/or delivers training programs to new employees on equipment and procedures in the area of operations in alignment with the department’s and training objectives and plans.
•Acts as the educational resource for Radiology and contributes to the education of patients, staff and physicians and other stakeholders as required.
•Monitors stock levels for consumables relative to the service.
•Provides support and relief for other Diagnostic imaging managers as required.
•Observes and implements departmental and applicable organizational policies, procedures, regulations and information to the Radiology patient care team.
•Adheres to &promotes compliance with hospital’s radiation safety&protection policy and associated codes of practice, & takes appropriate action where non-compliance is evident.
•Demonstrates-ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
•Represents organization positively&professionally.
•Attends divisional and other meetings as appropriate.
