Manager - PET/CT - Alert HR Solutions

The Manager - PET/CT manages the provision of an efficient and effective PET/CT imaging service for the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. The Manager is responsible for the management of technologists within the service to ensure the continuity of service delivery. The PET/CT imaging service provides inpatient and outpatient PET/CT procedures on pediatric and adult patients on a referral basis and for medical research. The service provides resources to medical research as directed. Through the production of high quality images, the Manager - PET/CT is responsible for ensuring a high standard of service is continually provided to all patients, their families and other hospital staff as prescribed in the patient care and facility standards set down.

Key Accountabilities:

•Responsible for the delivery of the PET/CT service: scheduling of resources and services, supervision, delegation and management of PET/CT service resources to ensure an efficient flow and optimal utilization of equipment and personnel.
•Provides modality expertise in the planning for all new facilities, recommending facilities, equipment and personnel needs in reference to the PET/CT service as required.
•Manages the quality of service provided by the PET/CT patient care team within the Diagnostic Imaging service. Ensures that systems and standards that promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care for the modality are adhered to as directed.
•Provides modality expertise in reference to the PET/CT service, taking the lead role in its maintenance and development.
•Acts independently in the assessment of referrals for PET/CT examinations, taking full responsibility to ensure evidence-based standards of practice of PET/CT are applied to the examination.
•Utilizes skills to assess a patient’s condition, often acute, &decides on an appropriate method to obtain a diagnostic image from a range of options.
•Performs all PET/CT procedures, provides patient care to patients of all ages as required.
•Ensures the safe&efficient use of the PET/CT equipment, taking action to resolve faults/issues&advising the Director of Medical Imaging.
•Reports on the PET/CT imaging services performance in relation to established goals, implements change to effect continual improvement in services provided, ensures compliance with all internal&external standards as well as regulatory and legal requirements as directed.
•Ensures quality improvement programs and competency assessment initiatives for the Diagnostic Imaging services are followed by the PET/CT patient care team.
•Undertakes appraisals of staff as directed.
•Participates in mandatory training and actively practices continual professional development in alignment with professional development programs to ensure maintenance of professional licensure/accreditation.
•Develops and/or delivers training programs to new employees on equipment and procedures in the area of operations in alignment with the department’s&training objectives and plans.
•Acts as the educational resource for PET/CT and contributes to the education of patients, staff and physicians and other stakeholders as required.
•Monitors stock levels for consumables relative to the service.
•Provides support and relief for other Diagnostic Imaging managers as required.
•Observes and implements departmental and applicable organizational policies, procedures, regulations and information to the PET/CT patient care team.
•Adheres to and promotes compliance with the hospital’s radiation safety and protection policy and associated codes of practice, takes appropriate action where non-compliance is evident.
•Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
•Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, and maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
•Attends divisional and other meetings as appropriate.
