Day Supervisor Steam & Power - Shell

Purpose The Day Supervisor Steam and Power will be a member of a multidisciplinary team and be responsible for the safe operation of the Steam and Power generation facilities and systems and the implementation of operational integrity standards to ensure operation of the plant within operating windows. He/she will assist the Utilities Area Operations Manager with implementing HSSE and quality standards of operation in the Steam & Power Utilities Department.

The incumbent will work closely with a multidisciplinary steam to rigorously drive reliability to ensure reliable production every day. He/she will set maintenance priorities and is responsible to ensure maintenance crews can safely work on the facilities when required.

The Day Supervisor Steam & Power will have 4 shifts reporting to him as well as an Operations Maintenance Coordinator and Permit to Work operator. The DS will thus be responsible that the logistics involved with shift rotation are effectively organized. The DS is also responsible for the development of the staff reporting to him. Finally the DS S&P is expected to coach the two junior, local DS positions in Utilities especially with respect to the proactive management required as a DS.

In GTL we have four operating areas each with a different set of processes technologies. The Utilities area has three sub-areas: ASU, Steam & Power, and Water. Due to the integration of the GTL complex and especially the steam system, the DS Steam & Power holds a pivotal position in the coordination and operational planning of the complex especially during upset and start-up conditions.

Accountabilities Ensure safety and safe working conditions in the Steam & Power plant

- Ensure operational integrity of the S&P facilities

- Drive and support reliability improvements

- Implement and execute development plans for his/hers direct line reports

- Coach junior colleague DS in UTL

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- To instill a culture high HSE awareness in his area by actively pursuing the use of the HSE case, PTW compliance and job safety analysis.

- Implement and maintain compliance to GAME-ESP operational integrity standards in his/her area

- To maintain the operating procedures up to date in line with documentation quality requirements.

- To initiate and scope plant changes and assure compliance to the MOC procedure (for the elements under his control).

- To prioritise maintenance work in his/her area - To organize operational input for maintenance execution, including Basic Equipment Care by operators, and liaise with the Area Maintenance Engineer to develop pro-active and reactive maintenance plans for his/her area

- To optimize work scope and screen work requests for plant Turnarounds.

- To liaise with planning and scheduling functions to establish the operating plan for his/her area and support the development of the complex operational plan.

- To identify and support reliability improvement projects to deal with reliability issues and bad actors following the MTA process

- To lead (incident) investigations following excursions outside the operating window, close out incident reports and audit findings.

- To assess training needs of reporting staff and ensure development plans are established and effectively implemented



Dimensions
Incumbent will be responsible for the safe & reliable operation of the Utilities steam & power operating area.This area consists of 6 GTG's Frame 6 each with their associated HRSG, 6 EDG's, 4 STGs, 2 auxiliary boilers and 3 FA-HRSG's, a BFW unit, condensate collection systems, fuel gas site wide distribution systems and IA SU compressors suitable for supporting the plant nominal 250 MW power requirement and up to 8000 t/h of HP steam demand.

The Steam and Power area has 4 shifts of each 10 persons, a Operations Maintenance Coordinator and a PTW day operator.
