Directs the coordination of technical and administrative support activities including installation, repair, and preventative maintenance. Ensures adequate records and systems are maintained. Schedules personnel responding to critical situations. Maintains communication with management and specialists in resolving technical problems and/or bringing problems to the attention of appropriate personnel. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Ensures that all maintenance tasks are accomplished in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensures that all employee administrative activities are being completed properly and in a timely manner (time cards, expense reports, schedules etc).
• Supervises quality control inspections
• Reports system related issues.
• Provides daily, weekly and monthly reports of activities to the customer and/or management
• Develops a plan to meet customer requirements and communicates the plan to staff.
• Manages and monitors performance of field support personnel
• May develop and maintain departmental budget
• Meets with customers and staff periodically to maintain an understanding of service issues and progress.
• Plans and organizes technical training to staff and/or contract personnel to maintain proficiency on system equipment.
• Monitors and administers company policies
• Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates maintenance programs.
• Develops, implements and monitors local administration practices.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages field support personnel, some through subordinate supervisors. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises up to 30 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Authority: Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources
to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
Job Complexity: Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives. Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
Discretion: Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities.
Interaction: Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.
Direction: Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing. In some instances this manager may be responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinate employees.
