Job Purpose:
This position will provide frontline user and hardware support to students, staff and public. The library will have over 300+ computers for public use. In addition to that around 200 staff PCs need to be supported. This position will need to manage and support hardware/software by developing, testing, installing and removing library related software. This position will liaise with the IT managed service vendor for day to day management of the QNL IT requirements.
Key Result Areas:
Install and Configure library related software
Assist Library IT team to develop and test software
Provide front line IT support to Library staff and library users from all sectors
Set up machines for new staff and existing staff
Assist in detecting network problem
Manage the ‘asset tagging’ process of all new IT equipment ensuring it is correctly logged onto the database
Install, configure, maintain and support enterprise printers
Manage library mobile devices
Install, configure, test and customize assistive technology software
Procurement of IT equipment - PCs, MACs/IPADs and laptops in line with QF/QNL strategy to meet users needs
Lifecycle management of IT for personnel i.e. IT starter process for new joiners, carry out IT inductions and also manage the IT process for leavers (e.g. email, IT equipment, VOIP etc)
Writing instructions for instruments/software/systems
Provide tailored IT skills training to staff and public
Keep abreast of developments, trends and issues in areas of responsibility
Participate in team work and committees as needed
Perform miscellaneous duties and conduct special projects as assigned
Familiarize, understand and implement QF health, safety, and environment policy, procedures, legal regulations and objectives applicable to areas of responsibility.
Ensures coordination with HSE department in implementing, monitoring and reviewing of HSE performance to ensure work under his/her control is performed in a safe, healthy and environmentally sound manner.
