Job Purpose:
The Translation Specialist is responsible for translation and interpreting variety of documents, business, technical, legal and scientific written materials including letters, reports, articles, books etc. the role includes reading documents, writing and editing copies, preparing summaries, consulting clients and developing contacts and using translation computer programmes once required. Responsible for translating contents between different languages (mainly Arabic and English) as well as proofreading.
Key Result Areas:
Reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained.
Using specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used.
Using appropriate software for presentation and delivery.
Researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation.
Liaising with clients to discuss any unclear points and consulting with experts in specialist areas.
Proofreading and editing final translated versions.
Providing clients with a grammatically correct, well-expressed final version of the translated text, usually as a word-processed document.
Using the internet and email as research tools throughout the translation process.
Prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
Work closely with QF communications as required.
Supplying subtitles for films and community programs as required.
Retaining and developing specialist knowledge on specialist areas of translation.
Networking and making contacts.
Translation of letters, memos, content, manuscripts, QNL community programs and publications as required.
Topics of translation may include scientific, technical, commercial, literary, legal and educational documents
Reading documents and writing and editing copies as required
Work with library visitors as required.
Works with library communications, professional services and technical services departments as required.
Provide translations for web content and social media.
Provide translation for library sings and promotional content.
Implementation of QF translation policies and procedures.
Coordinating administrative and translation activities
Provide translation services for any QNL department as required
Familiarize, understand and implement QF health, safety, and environment policy, procedures, legal regulations and objectives applicable to areas of responsibility. Ensures coordination with HSE department in implementing, monitoring and reviewing of HSE performance to ensure work under his/her control is performed in a safe, healthy and environmentally sound manner.
