Ensures monthly financial books are closed on a timely and accurate manner, in compliance with relevant financial standards. Responsible for the company’s finances on a day-to-day basis. Business partner to the operational management.
Authority (Indicate positions that report directly to this position. Number of direct / indirect reports, internal/external contacts)
Manages department consisting of 8- 12 persons. Sr Accountant/Accountants/Junior Accountants directly report to this position.
Main Tasks (Identify the major duties and tasks accomplished by this position)
• Responsible for the timely and accurate monthly closing of the entity’s financial books.
• Review and address month end closing journal vouchers, schedules, cost centre reports, and other financial statements for abnormal.
• Maintain control over the general ledger.
• Participates in the preparation and analysis of the annual budget.
• Assist operational management and other departments of the Company with financial statement analysis and queries. Provide formal financial training to other groups within the organization.
• Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve financial performance in areas such as working capital, controllable expenses.
• Prepare, manage and lead the processes and cost structure for activity based costing in the organization.
• Ensure the fixed asset management system is being maintained and physical inventories are being performed as required. Review quarterly schedules for accuracy and perform analysis.
• Optimize the company’s cash usage, capital structure, cost of capital and expenditure in the context of a cash intensive industry.
• Ensure process documentation/ procedures are updated and appropriate internal controls maintained in-line with the changes in business.
• Ensure key accounts are appropriately reconciled on a timely manner these includeing tax returns and employee related accounts All outstanding >90 days are explained, with a corresponding action.
• Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external reports published to various stakeholders.
• Ensure financial statements prepared are in compliant with relevant financial standards and corporate financial policies and procedures.
• Proactively review existing process and procedures and implement changes where applicable in order to enhance the department’s efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Performs supervisory responsibilities to include interviewing, hiring, performance evaluation, discipline and other related functions.

Key Selection Criteria
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or CA/CPA.
• Five or more years of oil & gas services, construction or related professional accounting experience required.
• Computer skills with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and an ERP system. Some experience in implementing accounting systems, methods, procedures and internal controls Demonstrates ability to work independently and to solve non-recurring problems.
• Demonstrates leadership ability and proficiency in mentoring, thinking creatively, and project planning.
• Able to work effectively with others.
• Fast and flexible; multi tasked, organized.
